Convert PostScript language files to many formats and print them on printers.

Ghostscript is a package of software that provides an interpreter for the PostScript (TM) language, with the ability to convert PostScript language files to many raster formats, view them on displays, and print them on printers that don't have PostScript language capability built in, an interpreter for Portable Document Format (PDF) files, with the same abilities, the ability to convert PostScript language files to PDF (with some limitations) and vice versa, and a set of C procedures (the Ghostscript library) that implement the graphics and filtering (data compression, decompression, or conversion) capabilities that appear as primitive operations in the PostScript language and in PDF.

Pros
Essential to using Scribus Desktop Publishing for pdf output. Works well for that application.
Cons
Even with the box unchecked for installing associated software, many unwanted items, such as toolbars, games, backup, and other malware comes along for the ride. It is essential to disinfect your computer after installing this application!

Works flawlessly to create documents with CutePDF. That is all I use it for.

None that I observe.
Summary
The newest version of Ghostscript still allows for the creation of PDF's in CutePDF. This combination is a "must-have" on my computer.
Does the job for me.

I use this so that Irfanview can read PDF files. I don't use this for anything else.

None - works perfectly for my use.
