  It will download as fast as your internet connection. It will get every file in a directory without discrimination. When its trying to 'list' large sites it really really slows down and you have to wait a few hours for it to completly get a list of a huge site with say maybe 20,000 files. Although its common that large sites have a hugh file list, most of the files are generally html. They are usually around 2k and 7,000 out of 20,000 may be html files. I would like the option to exclude certain file types. Apart from that, I'm happy with the software.

  I have been using every version of Getbot since it was first developed, and I couldn't imagine not having it on my computer. To me it's as critical as having Winzip or Winrar; I need it and use it just as frequently as I use those.

  I have been using GetBot for some time to retrieve Old-Time Radio programs from a variety of web sites. These tend to be large, public-domain MP3 files on not-so-good servers. The downloads are slow and often are interrupted. It seems OTR enthusiast frequently limit available bandwidth to minimize their server/connection costs. Anyway, GetBot have worked without problems for me to get these large files. If the network gets clogged up, GetBot will maintain the partial download, wait until the connection is re-established, and continue with the download. There is a handy feature that when you right-click a link to copy the location, it pops up in GetBot and starts downloading (GetBot has to be open and waiting in the background). I have had no stability issues (Win2K, SP4) or any other issues. Only feature I would like to see would be a way to save the download list so I can close the program if I have to shutdown and restore the program and the list later. It is a minimal issue at most.

  This program has only two redeeming qualities. First, it will interact with sites that require both passwords and cookies for authentication -but just barely. It will require an open session of IE for this to work and you will have to do a lot of clicking, and mucking around to get what you want. You have to load the page with IE and then highlight and copy the URL to the clipboard which it monitors. Using IE this way lets all the pop-ups and re-directs take over, so this is a SERIOUS limitation. The other quality is that it APPEARS to not install any ad/spyware and it un-installs fairly easily and completely. It does NOT search-out material very well, and cannot carry out a search by incrementally incrementing a certain part of the URL -at BEST it wil follow a few links and if what you want is there but there isn't a link pointing to it, YOU WILL NEVER GET IT. This program still requires a lot of refinement and it's help is practically worthless/non-existent. It does NOT work well under Win2KSP4
