Play a multiplayer online game providing real-time strategy and space combat gameplay.
This is where spacecraft flight simulation, economic management and teamwork come together. This cult-classic has challenged and entertained some of the best online gamers for over a decade. This is the best free game you've never heard of. This is Allegiance. Allegiance's real-time play offers a dynamic multiplayer experience: Intense interstellar combat Versatile games dependent on alien races and technological paths Team-dependent triumph and defeat Each game, teams are led by a single commander who makes tactical decisions and invests in technology and bases. Meanwhile, players pilot spacecraft (from small one-man vessels to large capital ships), as a team trying to gain victory through various means, such as destroying or capturing all enemy bases, or eliminating the enemy's will to fight.
Get right into the game. No leveling up and everything is free. It's all about skill.
Command, dogfight, scout or bomb. Find your place and make a name for yourself.
Cons
Low player base (but on the bright side you get to know everyone you play with)
Steep learning curve, but plenty of people willing to help
Summary
I am a relatively new player to the game but I love it already. This game is unique in that, you get to know your opponents. You will play multiple games with the same people, as you get better people will know what it is your good at. It is a true combination of strategy and shooter that no other game you will find can match. The learning curve is steep but that's the price you pay for a game in which every match is a battle of wits... and aim.
This game can be a challenge, but that's half the fun.
Just remember... if a scout flew through the aleph... its a trap!
Game is so good, I don't bother with others.

Pros
Runs on older as well as newer computers. The review about says it all.
Cons
You must be patient with the learning curve. Keep coming back and don't take it personal if you get podded.

Pros
Once you overcome the learning curve, the gameplay is highly addictive, and you truly feel like you are playing an integral role to your overall team's success. After putting this game on the shelf for 5+ years, I had to come back and check it out.
Cons
Steep learning curve. Difficult to find other players who have the patience to help you overcome newbie status.
Summary
I was involved in the beta for this game over a decade ago. This game is like an old sport you used to love playing when you were younger, and still have a blast playing whenever you get the chance to do so again. Because no two games play out precisely the same way, and come-from-behind victories are not all that uncommon, this game still rises about the field as being unique from the rest of the pack, yet deep and challenging enough to keep you trying to learn just a little more technique that can help extend your abilities to contribute. I have yet to see another game that so well melds the concept of a commander with all of the other players on the field, very similar to a quarterback running the plays for his offense. Allegiance is more than just a mere game, it is a sport with many possible roles that you will have a blast finding the one that is right for you and then refining your technique so you can perform it as best as you can, for the good of each team you are a part of.
Danger! Very addictive game.

Cons
Requires some training to be fully enjoyed with.

The best game you never played!

Pros
An intense team based space combat unlike any other game out there! You better be real good if you're going to be a hero or you get to enjoy a pod ride home. This game is for all the people who grew up wishing they had an X-wing in their back yard.
Cons
There are times of the day when very few people are online. It takes at least 10 pilots to make a decent game. Sundays are squad matched so that's when the action is at it's peak.
Summary
This game is rewarding to learn if you're willing to make the effort. It's not the kind of game one jumps into, learns, wins and moves on. I've been playing it for about 4 years and don't plan on quitting any day soon. Join us!
