While many designers use high-end graphics applications to add effects to text, this program provides a more specialized and economical solution for stylizing TrueType fonts.

The program has many unique features, such as the randomizer, which generates a series of random text effects and displays the results in a slide show window. Output options are plentiful, but in order to retain a fully editable vector image, you must save your text as a FontTwister file (FTF).

Some of the preset and random effects are cheesy, but the program gives you extensive control over each effect so you can design text effects to meet specific needs. What's more, the developer's Web site has many additional styles, textures, and fonts that you can download for free. All in all, FontTwister is intelligently designed and easy to use.

Quick, with a short learning curve.

Pros
I needed to substitute a png graphic header to title a new skin for a Forum I run. FT did it really quickly, precisely as I needed.
Cons
The default screen when you start a new file is a nuisance because it has text in it that you have to remove. I have not figured out yet how to edit a file that I tried and wanted to change. The only choice was to start over. Not a big deal, but an annoyance. It should be possible to save a working copy in native format that will permit editing.
Summary
Good for the price (free) but not as sophisticated as it could be.
This is one of the best programs I have ever tried! :)

The FontTwister comes with great features that helps me create outstanding fonts for greeting cards, nametags, heading on menus and banners for parties.
Cons
So far, I have not found any negative thing about this program.

Includes good selection of pre-designed text effect styles, easy to use, reasonable price, runs well on Vista 32 and 64 bit.

Includes a competent assortment of user-configurable options but lacks certain features found in more expensive "professional" applications.
Summary
Font Twister is an excellent tool for users who are looking to add fancy text effects to digital photos or documents such as flyers, menus, newsletters, greeting cards, presentations and similar projects. The program includes a large assortment of ready-made 2D and 3D styles plus some interesting textures. Additionally, registered users can download over 200 more styles and 60 textures from the developers site. Text effects which can be customized in a variety of ways, can be exported as images (with full alpha channel transparency if desired) and inserted into photos or documents in the same way you would add clipart. Although Font Twister includes many options, other3D text applications such as Zara 3D6 offer even more, albeit with a slightly higher learning curve and price.
