Though FolderMasker has an awkward user interface, it successfully hid our folders from view. Now, reversing the action was another story.

The program's interface operates in two parts, which would have been more convenient combined into one. You first have to choose whether you want to mask or unmask a folder. From there, you're taken to an interface for selecting your folder and applying your password. In our tests, we were able to quickly hide a selected folder without any issues. Unmasking the same folder follows the same two-part steps. You're supposed to select the masked folder from a list and enter your password to make the folder reappear. Unfortunately for us, our masked folder did not appear on the list. We clicked on the Help link provided. According to the publisher's site, our masked file was supposed to show up as a Recycle Bin item, but we could not locate it.

Despite being freeware, FolderMaster can't handle one of its primary tasks. It's not worth the risk.

I forget to test the software before I use this for my Windows Vista, totally lost my folder. Cannot unmask any folder once masked as could not select the masked folder by any mehtod for the unmasking! It was disguished as the rubbish bin and cannot directly open the original files inside, as these are only the deleted files to be shown inside the masked folder. <p> <p>After leave it for 2 months before plenty exhausted trials for recovery, I finally success for the recovery. Delete the program first anyway. Then search the files with the serial of number of the name of the masked folder, I finally could find my masked files with original filenames and recovery all of these files. <p> <p>Do not try the software, it is full of bugs. Try to use Windows file property with mouse right click, then change the property of the folder as hidden file. This is the cheapest way of hiding the files to the families without much computer knowledge. Of couse you must select "do not show hidden files" in the folder selection option, because they are not password protected!

run the program (does not install), I stupidly did not back-up folder I wanted to hide and guess what - folder is now hidden and I cannot retrieve it!!! I have created some <p>blank folders and re-tested it and it is just the same - your folders disappear and you can't get them back- I have even tried system restore to no avail. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

this program is great, its fast and easy and really protect your folder from being accessed by a password BUT
