More than just a conversion utility, Focus Audio Converter offers a modest but useful suite of audio programs. A simple burning app backs up files to audio or data CDs. The Splitter and Joiner tools chop files into smaller parts and puts them put back together. Of course, Focus Audio Converter also can transform files among the four most popular formats, namely MP3, WMA, OGG, and WAV. The latest version does a good job of grabbing CD tracks and burning them in the aforementioned formats. The feature set is standard for this type of utility. You can set the bit and sampling rates, specify the output directory, and have the program encode tracks in the space-efficient VBR mode. You also can have it shut down your PC after conversion, though you can't schedule events for a time of your choosing. The interface is elegant and easy to use, though the three-track conversion trial is a bit stingy. Focus Audio Converter isn't the most feature-packed tool in this category, but we expect many users will appreciate its straightforward approach.

When attempting to burn music from my computer the song to be burned is added to a display panel. What is displayed, however, is not the song name or singer but rather the full location of the song, C:\Documents and Settings\[name]\My Documents\My Mu... And then the panel runs out of space without the user being able to see the name of the song. This renders the program completely useless for burning, which is all I wanted it for.

I was looking to convert files from wav and wma to mp3. Had a hard job finding anything decent until I found this. Did the job superbly with no loss of quality. Looks good too and a simple interface.
