The powerful genetics makes fruit flies a major model organism for biological studies. Fly Genetics is one of the most common required laboratory courses for undergraduate students of biology and related majors. However, the basic fly genetics is not easy for lab beginners, including undergraduate students in Fly Genetics laboratory courses, as well as the new researchers in fly labs. Here we designed this smart phone app to help lab beginners and fly genetic laboratory students to learn the basic fly genetics during the first few days or weeks in labs. The first version of this app includes four parts: male vs female, virgin vs non-virgin, dominant markers, and balancers vs dominant markers. This app will serve as an education tool, which not only enables lab beginners to learn basic fly genetics faster and more easily, but also helps mentors shorten training time. Moreover, it will allow people, who cannot access flies, to understand fly genetics more easily.
