Great simple program

- Summary
- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
What I tried to do myself via Firewire SDK would've taken me... forever and a day. Great simple program, that does what's necessary to start a DVR like program for the Mac. Pros: Simple scheduling of events, tuning capabilities, never crashed, and simply works. Inherent good quality is that you can watch as it records as well. Cons: Bug in sorting (always thinks it sorted by time, sorting it other than time, and double clicking an event may give you wrong info about that event) Wishlist: Tie it in with a programming guide vs. calendar like scheduling and/or provide channel listings.

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It worked for me when first installed. Then I setup a bunch of schedulings and left the computer lid open and went to sleep - only to wake up and find none of the recordings worked. Now, as you both report - all I get is "Event Pending" and no record. I tried playing with the AVC Browser and connecting/disconnecting and recylced Mac and Tuner. Still it's always "Event Pending" and no record. Since iRecord v.04 worked for me at first it seems likely there's a troubleshooting solution - but I need reliability not workarounds... The software is obviously quirky and unreliable. It's close though - it was pretty sweet when it first worked.
Doesn't work

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
recorded both SDTV and HDTV perfectly, the scheduling is great, but the channel-set feature does not function for my set-top box, it would be nice to see more support for channel-set on a wider array of boxes (like scientific atlantica 4200hd)
the files come out with some .m2t extension, and they open fine in VLC, but it is hard to tell exactly what kind of file it is, also, the file is HUGE, 130MB for one minute of HD programming
it would be nice to have more flexibility, but you cannot beat the out of the box functionality, excellent for a beta
