Quark 6.5 and 7 could not even see (or use) fonts that were activated in the client software. After restart, some machines were not connecting, so I changed from "on-demand" to "all" in the synchronization so everyone would have access to all fonts whether or not they were connected. Microsoft Word 2004 would not see the fonts either. These machines all were running Suitcase X1 (some used Fusion) nearly perfectly for years. This lack of functionality was indiscriminate of operating system 10.4.11 and 10.5X all did not work equally.
All the font cache clearing, resetting and reinstalling did not help. Wait until 2.0 maybe.

I don't know why it takes three interfaces to run this software (a Status View, a User Management View and then the UTS client to add fonts). The online administration of the server through a browser is pushed as such a great feature, but you cannot add fonts unless you have the client installed.
The speed is not very good either. On my dual 1.8 ghz G5 there were fonts that would take up to 20 seconds to activate. To me that kind of lag is unacceptable.
I do like the client interface. It is very clean and simple to use, but that does not overcome it's performance shortcomings.
I am definately going to wait for v2 and see if it is improved before I can recommend this software to anyone.
