It's always impressive to watch pianists playing easily by sight. Though this program won't get you there overnight, it will help those looking to improve their sight-reading skills. Etude Sight Reader is best used in tandem with a MIDI keyboard, so make sure you have your instrument connected to your PC. The program interface isn't attractive, but it is intuitive. To use it, you watch the notes that appear on the stave and hit the corresponding key on the keyboard. A small blue dot at the top of the program window acts as a timer. Be sure to choose your note before it completes its trajectory. The two program modes are single-note and phrase. Though the 30-day trial period isn't enough time to truly improve your sight-reading, it is sufficient to determine whether Etude Sight Reader is a program you like. Overall, it's good for beginning music students looking to master sight-reading in a simple and straightforward manner.
