Engine RPM is a versatile application designed to measure the revolutions per minute (RPM) of various internal combustion engines by analyzing the sound they produce. Utilizing advanced signal processing algorithms, the app extracts engine sound frequencies to provide accurate RPM calculations. Users can set parameters like the number of cylinders and engine type, which include both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, to enhance measurement accuracy. The app is suitable for a wide range of engines, making it a valuable tool for diagnostics and setup in various applications, from motorcycles to aircraft engines.

One notable feature is the real-time autocorrelation graph, which assists users in fine-tuning the expected RPM range for better analysis. However, it is crucial to operate the app in environments with minimal background noise, as excessive sound interference may affect measurement accuracy. Although Engine RPM delivers reliable readings, it is not intended to replace traditional tachometers, especially for rapidly accelerating engines. The app also allows for customization through various settings, including update periods and filtering options.

This app measures the RPM of an engine by analyzing the sound it makes. It uses advanced signal processing algorithms to measure the pitch of the sound and display and log the calculated RPM.This app will not work if the engine sounds are muffled or unstable or combined with too much other noise. The engine sound must be clear and stable and sound like a single tone. Other sounds can also prevent the engine sound from being analyzed. The software is configurable for 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines and includes a generic configuration for unusual cases, such as a reduction gear. The normal RPM range is 400 to 90,000 RPM, although much lower RPMs can be measured using the manual RPM matching option.A detailed manual is available from our support webpage.
