Although we find it tough to come down too hard on a free screensaver, this canine-themed offering could still use some work. True to its name, DoggieFlics - Dachshund Sample delivers a selection of high-quality images of both adult and juvenile dachshunds. The one exception is a shot of a furry tan pooch that looks like some sort of terrier. We can only assume the dog is part dachshund or that the developer made a mistake. Although the program includes transition effects, you can't select them yourself or determine the interval between images. In fact, the ability to mute the audio is the only configuration option you'll find, and in our tests, we heard no sound no matter what we did. Nevertheless, dachshund owners or those with a soft spot for the breed probably won't mind most of this free screensaver's missteps.
