DesktopCollage lets you arrange your favorite images, movies and animations ("stickers") right on your desktop. It's like transforming your desktop into a virtual cork board. You have complete control over the position, size and layering of the stickers and DesktopCollage supports transparency, so stickers can take on any shape. Since DesktopCollage is designed to stay open all the time, it also makes up a fast, compact multimedia viewer which is always at hand and that lets you enjoy your images and movies without disturbing window elements like title and scroll bars. Letting Mac OS automatically change my desktop images is nice, but it's no substitute for having an ever-editable/resizable/freely-arrangable selection of my favorite pictures as the desktop.
I also use this for the more "serious" task of putting reference images relating to my current project on the desktop, so they're always available via Expose's F11 hotkey. Quite handy.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.

This is the greatest visual revolution I have experienced since switching to X a year ago. Within minutes of d/loading it I had a dozen Disney characters interfering with things all over my desktop. I then remembered a folder of transparent gifs I had created in OS 8.6 and had thought I would never use again without a lot of work - within minutes I had several new collages.

That was two days ago, and I keep going back to it as a fresh idea comes. Simplicity itself to use, works flawlessly - I cannot recommend this app too highly.

Andreas (well, he just has to be good desn't he!) - When you have the time please consider implementing a "tolerance" setting so that, for example, a graded background can be dealt with without having to use another app first.

Andreas

Nice little app

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It's a good start, but it's got a few steps before it's great.
1) Clicking on a stickie inverts it and it's not readily apparent how to resolve this (deslecting all via the edit menu does the trick, but so should clicking on the desktop.
2) Multiple monitor support would be great
3) Make the app not show in the dock this is pretty easy
4) i've had the thing for under 10 minutes there is no 4.
