We like this simple application that allows you to add and view notes and a contact list on the fly, and not just because it's free. Desktop Notes and Contacts' floating tabs sit discreetly in the upper-right corner of your screen. They're accessible in a click but don't get in the way when you're not using them.

The two tabs are aptly named Notes and Contacts. A simple text editor is found under the first, and it offers basic formatting options for font style, size, and color, and for setting alignment. Notes are saved in RTF format. In the second, names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses are displayed in alphabetical order by last name. Filtering options help you find a specific contact, and the e-mail addresses are clickable for easy loading in your default e-mail program.

There aren't a lot of bells and whistles with this open-source freeware application, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It does what it promises to do, efficiently and effectively, and anyone can use it.

Do not download, it gave me a virus seriously.
Summary
I downloaded this thinking it would be a handy tool but as soon as i opened it, my anti virus blocked 2 trojan horses. Did another virus scan 3 days later and my virus protection found another threat under this program. DO NOT DOWNLOAD SERIOUSLY

Alternativly to save a note WITH A NEW FILE NAME, just write down here & click FIRST BLUE { SAVE AS } ICON & save note with a new name related to topic OR simply 1,2,3 etc . By default ALL notes are saved in { My Documents } folder with a given name.
This product does exactly what it claims. Very handy.

I like to be able to quickly jot a thought or note down while searching the internet or doing research.
Cons
I would not use this as a primary contact list.

Summary
It is very useful in making a log and notes of daily activities. Possibly it could use a little enhancement on highlightiing and copying and a few other things. It would be a shame to try to make a wonderful utility into and encyclopedic and burdensome program requiring advanced tech education to use.

I loved the idea of having the drop down notes/contacts..
Cons
but after the first attempt at adding a contact and error came up and would repair itself no matter how many times I downloaded it. So had to remove and most of it by hand it would not delete. Really would of loved it!
Summary
Disappointed and hope the bugs get worked out.
The dropdown was not entirely displayed, no contact information could viewed.

Pros
I've tried several sticky note thingies but found this to be better then sticky notes & extremely handy. It's in the far right corner of my desk top soon as I turn my pc on & stays there silently. It's very small & light and shows up in front of everything & internet sites I open so I can just click if I want to type or save info. It has a filter box which I haven't figured out yet but one day I'll go to the owner's site, lol. Thank God it doesn't have that bright red thing around it in the example picture above, so it's really unnoticable. I have to keep track of so many kids & teens passwords that I just keep it listed next to their emails in the contact. I moniter alot of My Spaces also, so this is really convenient to store sign in info. When the kids forget their email or passwords I just click on the contact thing from my desktop & waa laah! it slides right down. If I click on a friends or co worker's email address Out look opens "fast". When I'm doing work or need to remind myself of something later I use the "note". You can also save your notes in a folder!
Cons
Can't make mistakes when filling out the contact alphabetically. If I click it to delete or go back it takes me down to the next line & I have to start over, so I just fill in contacts that I use often. I can live w/ this tho.
