Developer’s Description

Search through time for the Daikatana and seek revenge for the death of Dr. Toshiro Ebihara.

You are Hiro Miyamoto. In 2455 A.D., you find that Dr. Toshiro Ebihara has discovered the Daikatana (a samurai sword) on an archaeological dig. When held, it is revealed that the Daikatana allows the holder the ability to travel back and forward in time. Betrayed by an evil assistant, Toshiro is killed. It is up to Toshiro's best students (you, Mikko Ehihara, and Superfly Johnson) to search for the Daikatana.

Broken, fatal bugs

Crashes make it impossible to finish a level, save files become corrupted after crashes, basic AI, poor level planning, poor player/map collision response, game can feel silly at times, unreasonable difficulty
Summary
This is a greatly underaprieciated game. I believe that deep in every gamer's heart is a place for this game. Most gamer's won't admit it because they are upset that John called them his bitch. Anyway, I can't review very much of it because Daikatana crashes during map loading 50% of the time (yes this is the exact probability) and everytime it crashes it corrupts every savefile so I have to start from the beginning of the level. I still haven't gotten past the first level.

my video card is sis 6326 (8mb), it does not support OpenGL, it supports direct3D but keeps on crashing. could anyone please tell me if Daikantana has a software only support, it's 100mb in size.

This game is great, even though people have been saying its an out-dated engine if you compared it to the Quake II engine its way more advance and the music is excellent i cant wait to get the full version and finish playing this game!!

I've read most of the complaints placed here and notice 9 outta 10 say is was because it was on an old engine.. thats it.. thats the sole reason you shun something that took over 4 years to make. So it has an old engine.. so don't compare it to Q3.. compare it to the same engine. How is it against Q2. can you name anyother game with this level of weapons and creatures... if one exists.. compare it to that.
