Countdown Widget adds to your screen one or more widgets that count down to the milestones you set. Rather than being a traditional application, it conforms to the generic Android drag-and-drop widget principle, having only a few straightforward settings.

Pros

Multiple widgets: Countdown Widget allows any number of widgets for multiple events. We managed to fit eight of them on a Samsung Galaxy S3 home screen.

Accomplishes its primary task: Setting up new milestones takes only a few seconds. Once the widgets are up and running, you can go about your business without losing track of upcoming major events.

No ads or other distractions: The app runs smoothly without forcing on you any other products or services. There are no nagging banners or pop-up ads, either.

Cons

Replacement apps: Popular apps like Evernote might not exactly count down to events but can nevertheless post reminders for upcoming milestones and be convenient replacements for Countdown Widget.

Very similar to competitors: The time countdown app is inherently very limited in scope. With a quick online search, we tracked down a large number of apps that are similarly named and that do more or less exactly the same thing, with a slight variance in settings and graphics.

Bottom Line

Countdown Widget does exactly what it says and makes sure you don't forget about important happenings in your life. However, don't expect any extra functionality or parameterization apart from some mildly interesting graphics. This is a useful but not indispensable widget.

Day counter widget comes in 4 different sizes for home screen and display days, hours and minutes left. It will count down to event and count up once event passes, to count the days after enabling you to track the days passed since event date.

Countdown app has large collection of widgets for home screen. We also have unique resizable list widget that can show all your tracked dates in one place right on your home screen, no need to enter application to see your upcoming events.

In order to add an countdown to your home screen you have to go to your phone's widget menu and find Countdown Widget option. Long press on one of available widget sizes that you want to place on your home screen and drag and drop onto your home screen. Configuration dialog will popup where you can pick your event from the event list, or enter a new title and date to create a new countdown event for home screen.
