Editors’ Review
CopyClip lets you manage and access your clipboard. We'll cut to the chase -- the app is easy to use and gets the job done.
Pros
Easy to use: There's really not much to using CopyClip. When you cut or copy text, the text is added to the app where you can access it at any time. The straightforward functionality of CopyClip makes it accessible to everyone, even those who are completely new to clipboard management apps.
Saves clippings even after closing: CopyClip saves clipped items until you clear them. We closed out of the app and reopened, and our previous clipped items were still there. This feature provides extra flexibility, especially when switching between tasks or referencing past information from days prior, which adds more value than a standard clipboard.
Blacklist applications: CopyClip lets you exclude specific apps from having copies or cuts recorded. Just visit the Exceptions feature and check off the applications you want to blacklist. You can still copy and cut items to paste instantly; they just won't be available on CopyClip for later use. This feature is particularly useful if you're working with sensitive information, allowing you to keep certain content off the clipboard history.
Cons
Faulty help: CopyClip has a button in its About section that is supposed to take you to an FAQ, but clicking it took us nowhere. The same for the Fan Page, Twitter, and publisher website buttons. This lack of access to support can be frustrating, particularly for users looking for troubleshooting or additional tips on how to use the app.
Bottom Line
CopyClip has a basic job, and it does it well. It's a helpful app for managing your clipboard and increasing your productivity. It'll appeal to users of all levels.
For those who might need more advanced clipboard features, though, an alternative like Paste for Mac may be worth considering. Paste offers a visually organized history of clippings, where items are presented as "cards" you can scroll through, categorize, and search by date. It also supports images and files as well as text, while CopyClip is strictly text-based. That said, Paste comes at a cost, while CopyClip is a free solution for Mac users who need a reliable, no-frills clipboard manager.
