• Quirky At Times - Too Many Surprises

  General directions and navigation, no real problems Handy for finding addresses, restaurants, businesses via built-in google search Lots of options on how to route and personalize

  Traffic avoidance is often quirky and loaded with "surprise slow spots."

  Summary

  Had been using Here Drive/Now but really wanted an app that would tell me how to avoid traffic slow spots. While it does show alternate routes, some saying they will save 20 minutes or more... SURPRISE, you take the alternate only to hear 5 minutes into the new route, "TRAFFIC: "1 hour and 5 minutes have been added to your expected arrival time." WTF?!?!? Instead of saving time, I'm even later. I've also used "active traffic" on long trips - only to have the app tell me to get off the freeway and go through a small town, then get back on somewhere else - when NOTHING was affecting the flow of traffic on the freeway in the stretch I bypassed. I also have the INRIX app for commutes - the same app that is embedding in Co-Pilot, only it gives me different, often more accurate routing. I need to get to work without the quirks.

• Cheap and Very Good

  Pros

  Cheap and maps are downloaded on your phone. Internet connection IS NOT required - I don't understand the previous review! My GPS on my Samsung Galaxy S3 was excellent throughout my trip to the USA (from New York to Key West). Never had a problem with losing a signal. Never had to use data. Seems the previous reviewers may have a problem using basic systems.

  Cons

  On two occasions I was forced to think myself! Gave me the right intersection but called the south turn a north turn on two occasions. I knew it was south as it was the direction I was headed. I do not consider this a dealbreaker as I used it extensively on my holiday over three weeks and over 2300 miles.

  Summary

  I agree that the interface could be a little easier to use but if you spend sometime looking up what to do with the system it is quite manageable. There are excellent online giudes available. I preset all of my destinations and it took me to them all. In fact the only time I got lost was the time I didn't use it!

  Cons

  Difficult to use, impossible menu to navigate, store favorate places. Installed on an iphone 5 for offline navigation but also purchased an additional module for 3D navigation and perhaps live traffic, confusing - not clera what it does but tried it. I tested it travelling 100 miles and and the voice guidance was a female voice that sounded like she was drunk or on drugs. The voice guidance is a joke, no street names no early warnings, no intuitive prompts and not accuracy. When I arrived at my destination I turned the phone off/on and was shocked that the supposely offline navigation was asking me for internet connection and err msg 808. Now I am stuck I cannot use for off line navigation because I do not have data "yet". I am eager to get to a wifi and delete it, I will pay alittle more and get a TomTom or Garmin. This pilot is ... insane.

  Summary

  I tried it for almost two weeks, it's time to vacate the valuable space it occupies in my phone.

• Very disappointing GPS

  I took on a part time package delivery job and was in need of a decent GPS navigator to keep up with the demands of the job and not waste time. Nobody wants to fool around with a map in this day and age. I had a dated Navastar but it turned out to be inefficient for this type of job. Since I had a smartphone it made sense to just use it for a GPS. I read the reviews in Copilot Live and they all seemed favorable. This was not my experience after purchasing ay Google play and using it on the job. The thing crashed, couldn't type in addresses with north and south in them and if it didn't recognize an address it wouldn't proceed to navigating. The turn by turn even disappeared after a while. All these stellar reviews are crap and I'm sick of not being able to trust internet reviews. Used 1 day supposed to get a refund.

  Summary

  It's cheap so what can you expect. I heard good things about TomTom.

  Summary

  I was very disappointed to have read so many false good reviews on this app. At first, I was so convinced about the potential of this app that I had upgraded the free version to live premium. Nonetheless, I was very appalled when this app failed to carry on voice commands while I was on the road. I literally had to reach for my phone while driving to glance at the 3D map that was available. I know it was my fault to use my phone while driving and could have injured others and myself in the process, but this app requires constant attention as it cannot perfectly function independently. Perhaps the phone lost its gps signal, but I don't fully agree with this thinking since I have noticed there are times when I would start up the app before starting my car and it wouldn't even guide me to turn anywhere. Most of the time, I have high doubts when using this app, especially when I'm late because it sometimes does not function properly. Mind you, my iPhone is running iOS 6.1 and the app itself is fully updated. Also, before reaching a turn the app would sometime decide to lag on commands, so sometimes I'd have to slow down at certain corners of the street to see if the app will tell me to turn. This problem is very dangerous, especially at a green light intersection, for there were certain times when I was on the far left lane, it would tell me to turn right, so I had to maneuver my quickest to get to the other side. Imagine you crossing 3 lanes just to turn right before an intersection...that would be extremely dangerous and stressful, right? A huge problem I had was that this app would tell me to turn left on one way streets, as this could cause accidents. I'm never careless on the road but understand that as a human being I'm able to make errors. So, not seeing the one way sign was an error I made, after hearing the command from the app telling me to turn left instead of right. I guess you could argue that in this era we can't fully be depended upon technology, but since this app was designed to navigate its users, in some way I think this app has failed to do that and even made it worse by putting its users in danger. On top of all this, the most stupid way to re-rout done by this app is to turn left if you happen to miss a turn. For example, let's say I was supposed to turn right on McLaughlin Rd but for some reason I failed to do that. On the next block, instead of telling me to u-turn there the app tells me to turn left onto some random road and then I will have to go through some neighborhood and then finally going straight towards McLaughlin Rd. I'm not a computer geek/techy, but I honestly have high doubts about the creators of this app. I honestly have nothing good to say about this app, other than the fact that it has a 3D map and can find me the closest McDonald's. I'm joking. It is a complete waste of money and will be noted down as the worst item I've purchased in my entire life. Some day on my death bed, I will murmur these last words: "CoPilot Live Premium is the useless piece of crap I've ever bought. Also, I just wanted to point out that I have contacted ALK (the creator of this crap gps), but they've transferred me to their Vice President and some other person in charge (they're never in their office), so hopefully someone higher than them will read my review. Hopefully.
