Comodo Chromodo is a free, feature-rich, secure, Chromodo-based web browser from Comodo (maker of the renowed Comodo Internet security software). It has the look and feel of Chrome but features several security and functionality improvements:Better Security and PrivacyBuilt-in website scanner. If you're suspicious about a website, Web Inspector allows you to scan any URL to find out if it hosts malware before you visit the site.Detects and blocks ad trackers. Comodo's PrivDog browser extension strengthens online privacy by automatically blocking advertising networks which are attempting to track your activity.More secure default settings. Chromodo ships with settings optimized for maximum security and privacy. For example, we disabled and removed the automatic submission of usage statistics, disabled the search prediction service and disabled HTTP referrers.Private browsing. Incognito mode further improves privacy by preventing cookies from being stored during browsing sessions.Better certificate handling. During HTTPS sessions, the Chromodo address bar will clearly indicate the class of SSL certificate used by the website (Extended Validation, Organization Validation or Domain Validation).A Better Internet ExperienceDrag and drop browsing. Simply drag any text or image to the right of the browser to run an instant search on the item. Try it once and you'll love it.Fast account switching. Tired of other users changing your browser settings? With Chromodo, different users can quickly access their own bookmarks, themes and homepage with one click of the 'change user' tab. Suitable if multiple friends or family members use the same browser instance.Share pages instantly. Chromodo's 'Share Page' button lets you share your discoveries on social media more conveniently than ever.Built-in media downloader. One-click download of video and audio from YouTube, DailyMotion and other streaming media sites.
I've been using it for over a year and have no complaints
Summary
It's the only browser I care to use.
Drains all your RAM, crashes, can't deal with Flash
zakkzakk
Pros
Privacy non.invasive. Doesn't call home like Chrome.
Cons
Everything else is bad as it can get. It's buggy, it crashes all the time, doesn't let you watch embedded videos, doesn't interact well with Flash, every time you want to watch a video you must copy the link and open it in Opera. Also the craziest RAM management you'll ever see, sometimes each tab is consuming 300 or 400MB of RAM, and 20 tabs can eat up all your 8GB to the point that if you don't have a big pagefile, it makes your Windows go BSOD.
Summary
Poor attempt at making a Chrome alternative. Millions of years behind Opera. It's a no no.
A security company that turns of security features?
AlexVranas
Pros
Only slightly worse the Chromium
Cons
Disables important security features, including the same origin policy!
Quick, secure, lean all around good browser that won't hold you back from doing what ever you need!
Cons
none that I know of
Summary
Great product. Chromodo = Dragon, why?
forensics_maverick
Pros
I will skip enumerating the pros because they all work in my experience. It is a hardened version of Google Chrome.
Cons
Would like a 64-bit build, but for a free product with more stability I will settle for 32-bit WOW64. There are some issues with running a 64-bit build anyway as many addons/extensions are 32-bit only.
Summary
I think it's great, but after looking at the description for both Comodo Dragon (latest release) and Comodo Chromodo, I see that they have verbatim descriptions. My question is why would one company produce two seemingly identical--even by their own telephone tech support admission--hardened versions of the same technology? Dragon is a hardened release of Google's Chromium based web browser. Chromodo is a hardened release of Google's Chromium based web browser. So why two efforts at the same goal? It makes it seem like which should you choose, but it turns out it's only a name preference. Seems just futile to develop once and name twice. Or maybe I just am too curious???
Note: I know Ice Dragon is a Mozilla Firefox hardened release, but I am comparing Dragon with Chromodo. Any answers?
Not bad for daily use.
Pros
Very good antivirus and it is a chrome wanna-be so it doesn't change what we are used to, sure it gets rid of old chrome, but its practically the same thing.
Cons
I personally don't see any problems with it, although I can understand why some people do.
Summary
I enjoy it.
Great.....But No Good With Google Chrome!
Gold Dust
Pros
A Google Chrome want-of-be, works great.
Cons
Will not work with Google Chrome......you much choose which one you want on your computer you can not have Google Chrome and Comodo Chromodo, you are just asking for a lot of problems if you do.
Summary
Choose Comodo Chromodo, or Google Chrome you can only have one installed..........or they will conflict with each other, big time.
Faster, better, Secure Chrome
tx2010
Pros
Do not send your data to google.
No unwanted plugins and flash.
Lean and hence faster.
Adds some useful privacy related extensions.
Summary - Faster, better, Secure Chrome
Cons
32-bit version works just fine. But you know, it would have been nice to have the 64-bit version.
