True to its promise, this program brings a variety of Civil War-themed paintings to your PC screen. The colorful pictures vary in subject matter, from a plantation party to Union soldiers dying on the battlefield. Some of the paintings have obviously been better reproduced than others, but none of them look terrible. The acoustic guitar-based soundtrack sounds well recorded and seems to fit the program's old-timey feel, but you always can choose to turn it off. The rest of the program's feature set is bound to satisfy most users. For instance, you can set the delay between images, apply a black-and-white effect, choose from a list of transitions, and view the paintings in either random or sequential order. The demo subjects you to a nag screen, but it doesn't get in the way of the content. Average users probably can skip this screensaver, but history and Civil War buffs are bound to get something out of it.
