This combination video-conversion and creation tool boasts good speed and a nice set of features. CinemaForge's polished interface is both handsome and rather simple to understand.

As a video converter, the application supports all expected formats, including SWF, WMV, AVI, and MOV. You also can choose to accompany any video with audio files of your choice rather than the original sound. When you click the digital-camera icon next to the File Input box, you'll be able to browse your computer for still images to compile a video file. If you choose to perform this action, you can apply a few transition effects, determine the image interval, and add your own music files.

Although CinemaForge was quick to generate a slide-show video, the audio came out sounding much muddier than the original file did, even when we upped the bit rate. Elsewhere, the program lets you tweak certain aspects of your new video, including frame rate and quality. You also can choose to crop videos, apply a deinterlacing filter, and upload videos to the Web (if you have a CinemaForge account).

We should note the program can't be uninstalled by traditional means; instead, you have to click the question-mark icon on the main interface. In spite of the aforementioned quirks, CinemaForge is overall a solid piece of software.

Pros
Everything - Especially the lovely quality converted videos. And you can even crop the video before converting. This is nice indeed.
Cons
Can't seem to deal with SWF files, which is my main need. It says "not encoded". Maybe I need codecs? I will try to figure it out.
Summary
Good stuff and freeware. Lovely reproduction. Easy to install and easy to use and I love the little cropping feature. I like CinemaForge! You are my new buddy ;) Updated on Dec 30, 2012I just ran a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan (the best of the free best) and no virus or problems. Many of the PC security softwares are rubbish e.g. McaFee and Norton are always showing fake alarms. The interfere with what you are doing to say that there is a virus or trojan when in fact it is part of the software that is required and harmless. I dont use them. They are all a pain in the arse.

I plan to use this program, but have written to the publisher first.
Cons
Many reviews of this software have been very negative - including reports of viruses, and inability to run the software. CNET are not proactive in cases like this. The distressing part is that neither is the publisher.
Summary
I have written my concerns to them, and will await their response. There are too many programs on this site that are either out of date (eg. publisher website no longer exists) or unread and untended by the publishers. This is quite ludicrous, especially when, as in the case of CinemaForge, this website represents StageGold's only download site. Why are they so slack they their marketing person fails to even look at the comments about their product?

It's very simple click on a video, in my case swf. Choose where you want the converted video saved. Choose the format you want it saved to and click convert. Only problem is it does nothing. It will tell you to read the report which says video not converted, doesn't say why and the help file is non-existent. Shame on you C-net for even listing this piece of crap.

Custom Installer with an animated stick figure. Otherwise NONE!

Wants to install Ask Adbar er search toolbar. Can't even see Matroska .MKV files.
Summary
Matroska has become the defacto format for High Definition video on the internet but many players and appliances such as the xBox 360 or PS3 are not capable of viewing them. A video converter is made necessary, this isn't one of them.
