• Happy that I Came Across BS1 Accounting

  Pros

  This is an Accounting package that is easy to use, understand, and figure out. I love the clean, clear, concise, readable and functional user interface. I can quickly navigate around, do tasks, and quickly find the data I need on the screen, no clutter! The online Help documentation that covers all the topics that has answered all my questions in its operation. Just print it all out and read through the sections you need. The demo Sample company is fully functional with current period populated data so you can see a working setup and test drive it first and see how your company operations will be done for real when you set yours up. Very helpful. Takes what? 5 minutes to download install and fire it up and start checking it out. Nice. A no hassle demo experience - fabulous!

  Summary

  I am not an accounting person, but a tech/software engineer person starting up a small internet business with limited inventory. I have never "used" an accounting system before but I do have some accounting exposure in my years and I could figure out very quickly how use your package and how I should set up my company and processes. I am impressed, and honestly, I am not impressed that often with software LOL! I knew in a short time from the demo alone, that BS1 Accounting software is already going to save me time and money over a manual paper based or Excel based accounting type setup (or the other accounting software out there). And time is money. The purchase price will be recovered quickly in time savings. BS1 Accounting is a great software package to run your business with and if your business operation requirements change like needing a more Purchasing/Inventory/Lots process requirements (mine does not right now) there is BS1 Enterprise available. Great support and communication also from the company.

  - Simple straight forward program - Low cost - Inventory, invoices, customer details, export, import - Easy to learn

  Cons

  No cons to report after using the program to keep track of customers, add products or make invoices to date.

  Summary

  I was looking for a solution to get way from Quickbooks. As a small Canadian business which needed to track inventory, make invoices, keep a customer data base and keep track of payments at low cost, I have been very happy with BS1. Sometimes simple is better, in which I must say, BS1 is it.

  Pros

  I am SO glad I found BS1 Accounting. I had been using a very old version of Simply Accounting when my old desktop died. I tried all the big-brand names and it was an exercise in frustration. BS1 is very user-friendly, no-nonsense and quite inexpensive. On top of that the customer service is the best I've ever received.

  Cons

  I honestly can't think of any.

  Pros

  BS1 Accounting is a simple to use accounting system which is small in size and resources compared to other bloated packages such as MYOB and Quickbooks which are popular desktop choices in Australia. The ability to enter in all transactions through the GL quickly which saves me time as an Accountant is one of its best features.

  Cons

  It would be good to be able to drill down into transaction from the P&L and Bal Sht. But you can do this through accounts section.

  Summary

  I am a CPA qualified Accountant with 15 years experience and can't recommend this program more highly enough. Mark Ryder CPA MBA

  Pros

  small free and quick to download... hopefully no adware will be forced onto me.

  Cons

  no standards... everything seems in the wrong place.. layer on layers just to do simple tasks. sticky and confusing user interface..

  Summary

  I rather pay $500 for something I want than have something forced onto me for free...

  Pros

  Ability to handle multiple general ledgers. Handles sub accounts well. Customizes with ease to add and delete accounts. Prints nice financials. Imports backup copies with ease.

  Cons

  Versions change each year so if you upgrade computer you'll need to purchase a version upgrade.

  Summary

  Overall, I love this program. I have used it for several years for several small businesses. It allows for simple accounting with little thought.

• Very Easy to use great software and reasonable Price

  Pros

  I used the entry level software Bs1 Accounting and its ability to perform multi currency transactions won me over. It has been a a breeze to teach the non accounting staff the intricacies of double entry with this software and the reporting available of the bat are adequate for my needs.

  Cons

  The version I am using did not have the ability to send clients account statements by email or print to PDF.

  Summary

  Updates of the software are regular and the vendors seem genuinely interested in implementing suggestions made by clients. I recommend this software for any environment that requires a software easy to setup and implement quickly.

• Easy to use, very functional and portable

  Pros

  Flexible and easy to use but highly functional. So far everything I need to do can be done in BS1 Accounting. I especially like that I can carry it around on a thumb drive. Sometimes I need to access my data from where ever I might be and I can have it with me. Also like that it can accommodate both a small non-profit and a retail brick and mortar with boatloads of inventory. At the end of the year I print off my reports and give them to the accountant and I am done.

  Cons

  Dollar amounts downloaded to Excel need to be in currency format.

  Summary

  Would recommend to anyone who needs accounting software but doesn't want to be an accountant. Pretty easy for anyone with only a basic understanding of bookkeeping.

  Pros

  For someone simple like myself, I find this software marvellous and very easy to use. Have been using it for several years now in fact probably nearly 10. Have had no problems at all and I don't have a lot of time to spend on accounts. My accountant on the other hand wants me to buy Quickbooks or some such, which I refuse to purchase! Like the fact that reports can now be downloaded into Excel etc.

  Cons

  One minor gripe - when reports downloaded to excel, values are not in figures so cannot be added up immediately. Also invoices are listed per invoice item not as a total for invoice.

  Summary

  Would recommend to anyone who has to undertake their own accounting for small business - just makes like easier - life is too short to be spending hours on accounting matters!

  Pros

  This is a fantastic program for someone who is not an expert in Accounting but requires a comprehensive accounting program for their business. My partner & I have used this program & its upgrades since 2006 and have had no problems whatsoever. My partner had absolutely no accounting experience at all prior to 2006 and quickly mastered the accounting principles through using BS1 Accounting and now has no trouble entering all the relevant information.

  Cons

  So far we've found nothing that could be classed as a con.

  Summary

  We highly recommend BS1 Accounting to anyone with a business, who has limited accounting experience and wants an uncomplicated accounting system to record the business transactions, etc.
