Very little other than louder volume on the macbook
Cons
This software is constantly connecting to internet and it REFUSES TO WORK without an internet connection.
So pay for the software and get a license.? Check
Use software while online? Check
Try to use software while offline? NO CAN DO!
but I paid for this software.....SO WHAT from the developer. "We need to check to make sure your Boom2 experience is is best it can be so we require you to be connected to internet."
Summary
NEVER AGAIN this is the second time I have tried to use Boom and with Boom 1 it was other issues. Do not sell me software that I cannot use while not online.
DELETED, UNINSTALLED AND TRASHED FOREVER
O.k if it was for free!

Pros
Credible performance at low listening volume.
Cons
Audible distortion and clutter in audio playback.
Summary
it works but the beauty is only skin deep

Pros
it works unless your internet drops
Cons
this is the best example of the most horrible sales and marketing tactics i've ever come across in software. It constantly (it seams like they update the software every few hours) nags and annoys for updates. Then if your internet brakes down (a real problem in some parts of the world, like the country side) it switches itself off, just incase you haven't got the latest version of the software to protect you against a bad listening experience, what the ****!!!
Summary
Avoid if you can at all costs!!!
Stopped working / no support / crap product
boom2isterrible
Pros
kinda worked for a bit, until they voided my purchase with the upgrade. Still, even when it worked, I'd usually have to quit and restart it a few times before the audio wasn't lagging behind.
Cons
I paid for the first version, and when they upgraded, it replaced the version I had paid for with a trial version of the new one. They make you buy it again when it upgrades, and if you don't upgrade. Would never have upgraded if I knew it would make it stop working. I emailed them to ask if there was a way to just use the first version, and they never responded. And I can't undo the upgrade, so now it just doesn't work at all. Terrible. If I paid for a product, I should be able to use it; this is ridiculous.

Broke my Mac
DanielSBuus
Pros
Quality of the EQ is really good. It comes at the expense of quite a few CPU cycles, though, which is to be expected.
Cons
Breaks audio in OS X.
Summary
I was stupid enough to download the trial last Monday evening because my headphones at my new work have a really uneven frequency response curve and a Google search suggested it to me.
Everything fine until yesterday morning when Boom 2 announced that the trial period was over. I continued using my Mac, but throughout the day it crashed, locked up, or introduced a lagging stuttering mouse cursor with kernel_task running amok, for a total of eight times, until I spotted in Console that the last thing to happen before the most recent lockup was an error message from Boom about some network host being down.
I uninstalled Boom 2 via its horrible UI, and then things went back to normal. That is, until 30 minutes ago when I decided to listen to some music for the first time since the uninstall. Upon clicking play in Spotify, my Mac froze instantly and needed a hardware shutdown to be brought back to life.
I tried once more with Spotify, and it started playing with two or three brief stutters that paused audio and locked the mouse, then continued to play normally for about ten minutes until the lagging, stuttering mouse + kernal_task mayhem, and now + audio play-pause-play-pause, reappeared. I managed to soft reset the Mac, but I now find myself with a completely (three weeks old) broken installation of OS X Yosemite that will crash or lock up if I attempt to play any audio.
I now have to reinstall and set up my entire development environment once again.
Boom 2 Warning
mpias
Pros
It makes the audio louder.
Cons
Blew my MacBook Air's speakers in about a week.
Boom 1 worked without a problem, Boom 2 was far more buggy, it caused more distortion and needed to be restarted often.
Avoid at all cost!
Summary
I contacted the developer and received an uninstall utility along with some lines to paste into terminal to completely rid the MBA of the program. I also used a search utility to find and eliminate anything associated with the program or developer. I also reset everything that could be reset on a Mac including reinstalling OS X. No luck. I spoke to Apple tech support (who also contacted an Apple store technician) and since the audio output is fine with headphones there's no damage to any electronics so to repair the MBA only the speakers need to be replaced. I found a couple of used ones on eBay and using iFixit.com put my MBA back in working condition.
Needless to say, the developer has not been helpful and denied all responsibility. Being located in India they don't have to care. If I'm lucky I might be able to get a refund which would partially cover the cost of one speaker.
This is notable because in 30 years of owning personal computers this is the only time I've seen software damage hardware. This in itself is notable.
Keep your Mac safe and avoid this software. It may do worse than blow easily replaceable speakers.
too much distortion
hudsonw
Pros
Beautiful GUI. Simple to set up.
Cons
I tried Boom2 with the iMac internal speakers, Sennheiser headphones, Kanto YU2 speakers, Dell Bluetooth speakers. In all cases, the Boom2 software simply has too much distortion. There seems to be a lag with the audio on YouTube videos.
Summary
I uninstalled Boom2 because I simply didn't want to invest any more time sorting it out. My current sound set up is Kanto YU2 speakers with the iTunes equaliser. Good enough for my ears.
Keeps stopping sound

Pros
Good when it works
Cons
Erratic at best
Re-installed three times
Charged me twice at app store
Uninstaller doesn't work

Pros
It has none, but I don`t know how the guys up above give it 5 stars.
I wanted it for to increase the volume but it didn`t.
Cons
Waste of time installing it?
Summary
Now I know that this app is no good for the Yosemite!
No customer service & didn't respond to errors: fleeced
weareunder
Pros
Enhances sound, but only if it doesn't create a consistent, annoying audio delay- even when not in use. I should just use this space to list the rest of the cons that don't fit in that box...
Cons
Help request went unanswered, cost, and a mediocre user interface make me feel as though I got scammed. Problems only cleared after a complete uninstall of the software. It was alright in the beginning, but constant updating and push notifications that interupt movies and full screen displays are distracting and awful. Then the audio delay began- even when I wasn't using Boom it made the sound half of a second slower than the picture in movies, TV shows, and streaming video.
Summary
The price is absolutely not worth it. Buy better speakers and forget the hassle of experimental, junk software and a company with minimal customer support.
