• HOW TO STOP 100% CPU IS TO CONFIGURE IT !

  It automatically sets to 100% cpu and "allow new tasks" wich deters people from using. BUT not impossible to configure.

  Summary

  Simply select - project commands - under projects and click "no new tasks" wich will stop MORE from adding automaticly, if you already have one or more working, just individually select them and abort. Another big tip, go to the tools menu and select -computing preferences- and lower the max CPU to 20% instead of 100% (default) hopefully people change their mind once they read this.

  I tried down;loading this program several over a weeks period.It always times out, I never had a chance to use it. i even went to the home page to try to download it and the same thing happened.Thisi s the only program I have had trouble downloading.Very disappointing.

  I was mildly interested in the SETI, but this software requires you have another program installed, or you go on the web and find it. Too much bother.

  must be turned down..taxes any small computer and will raise temps

  ok guys i loaded it up and it will tax you cpus and temps..get the program from seti at home and go to the preferances..all you have to do is turn things down and temps will drop back to normal mine only runs 10 to 15 degrees warmer than normal. if you dont it can skyrocket you temps and cpu cycle times..be smart and back it down and you will have a nice little program and it will connect to server easyer..i have no problem with mine and run it all day long

  I have used this since the late 90's. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM!

  Sometimes sending results takes awhile to connect to the server.

  Pros

  I have had this program running for 24 hours straight. There has been no issues with over-heating of my computer. My computer was built from scratch so that may or may not be the reason. The program is intensive as far as needing computing power but i'm still able to surf the web while SETI@home is running.

  It may over-heat computers that meet only the minimum requirements
