Pros
Scans automatically or manually: The lightweight Bitdefender app automatically scans new and updated apps as you download them from a store. If Bitdefender detects something suspicious, it gives you the option of uninstalling or keeping the app. You can also initiate a scan at any time by tapping the Start Scan button and choose whether to have Bitdefender check just your installed apps or everything on your phone.
The light version uses the same scan engine as the paid version.
Top marks on malware detection and usability: The security and antivirus testing firm AV-Test awarded Bitdefender's Antivirus Free app top marks on malware detection and system performance.
Malware scanning for free: It's free. And it keeps an eye out for malware. But if you are looking for broad-spectrum protection, an annual subscription to the Bitdefender's Mobile Security & Antivirus app is $14.95.
