• Save your money for something better

  Somewhat visually appealing

  Cons

  Bloated memory hog(.NET). Hard to install. Hard to configure (You must manually edit XML files for anything more than basic stuff). Uses Windows Media Player for playing music. Impossible to change music visualations within program. Mpeg2 video playback choppy and prone to tearing. Basically it's just a menu program for other apps on your machine.

  Pros

  Great product to pull all HTPC functionality together and become the main portal for your family. Look & feel is great and easy to use. My 8 year old is able to use it with ease.

  Cons

  Released early in the beta testing process with many identified bugs & shortcomings left unaddressed. There is hope for the future but the maker of this software is very tight lipped about what updates are planned and when. Before making a purchase decision make sure to browse their support forums to see the extent of issues etc

• Media Center functionality without a separate XP version

  Pros

  Beyond Media will let you use your PC as a Home Theatre PC without having to purchase a new machine. When combined with Beyond TV and the plugins for Beyond Media, it will provide a full fledged Media Center with a great interface and possibly the best PVR functionality

  Cons

  If you want all the functionality, you will have to install Beyond Media AND Beyond TV although both install very easily.

  Integrates great with Beyond TV app. <p>Music Application is great. <p>Video App works great for my christmas movies <p>Customizable menus and settings. <p>Plugins from Snapstream SDK are great. <p>The user and support forum is absolutely awesome.

  Cons

  DVD application needs a little fine tuning. FF/RW and not going back to the menu when pressing stop. <p> <p>Music should allow you to choose Artist then Album. Not just Artist and then every album they have.

  Basic features that are essential for a home media center. Doesn't have a lot of frills, but integrates with Media Player playlists which is a major plus for me and does a great job with pictures and a pretty good job with videos. Very recommended.

• Beyond Bad!

  In every way except the initial "curb appeal" I find this software vastly inferior to competitive products like Meedio. The user interface provides some degree of eye candy but it quickly wears off as the functional inadequacies become apparent.
