• Inferior to Wordpad

  Enables Vista and Win 7 users to use a Wordpad equivalent that uses the GUI of the XP Wordpad, ie a menu bar, format bar and status bar. Unlike the XP Wordpad it can save pages as html. When you paste html into Angel Writer hyperlinks are displayed correctly without the underlying code being displayed, but you cannot click on these links to open a browser.

  Cons

  There is no View menu so you cannot choose to hide the toolbars, and you cannot choose 'no wrap', 'wrap to window', and 'wrap to ruler'. The third option would give you a more realistic display of what your text would look like. There appears to be no page setup so you cannot select paper size, margins or orientation. There is no 'paste special' so you cannot choose to paste as either rich text or unformatted text.

  A very poor Wordpad alternative most people could live without.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jan 30, 2014<p/>With build 400 you can now now use 'Paste Special' if you want to paste as plain text rather than RTF. The Page Setup dialogue box can be accessed through a button on the top left hand side of Print Preview dialogue box. The main shortcoming is the broken ruler. Adjustments to margins, indents and tabs in the ruler affect the page layout in the workspace, but it bears no relationship to the settings in the Paragraph and Page Setup dialogues accessed from the menu. When settings are adjusted from these locations there are no corresponding changes shown in the ruler. This means that what you see is probably not what you get. Angel Writer shares the two main shortcomings of Wordpad which are a lack of a spell checker and tabbed document interface. It can, however, create tables as well as view them. It's main limitation compared to Wordpad is that it can only open and save RTF, HTML and TXT files. Wordpad, on the other hand, can open and save ODT and DOCX files.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jan 30, 2014<p/>CORRECTION: Angel Writer does have spell checking on the fly, but it is not available as a button on toolbar.

  I t does what it says it will do anyway I like it a lot loads quick not fancy like MS Word 2007

  I wanted a quick loading and nice looking word program that I didn't have to spend weeks learning to use. This is it and for free

• Best of class for just a word processor.

  Pros

  Small footprint. Very simple to use. After testing it out against four others, found that it does a few good things that none of the other processors/suite do !

  Cons

  The only thing that could be a con is that you can only keep one document open at a time. That being said you can still launch the program multiple times to keep as many documents open as you want, i.e one document per launch.

  Summary

  Clean interface and very user friendly.

  I would hope that the next update could include words. So far it uses Txt. RTF and HTML

  It has no settings at all-so You can only write rtf....

  Pros

  Microsoft word didn't come with my computer. So I've been trying to find an alternative word processor. Angel Writer is great! It has all of the functions I'm looking for, and best of all, it's free! I would highly reccomend this to anyone looking for a new word processor.

  Cons

  It would be wonderful if this program could open and read all microsoft word documents, but sadly, it can't. :-(

• This is a great little RTF and TXT editor.

  Pros

  Angel Writer has everything I need to quickly and painlessly edit an RTF document. I can do all the basic wordprocessing from it. It's a lot like MS Wodpad that comes with MS Windows XP, but the additional formating, paragraph and table editing functions make it far more usefull. On top of that it integrates with the free WordWeb dictionary and thesaurus; and offers HTML export of the documents. Images can also be included in the document. I'll use it for simple wordprocesing like personal notes, essays, web related texts and writing blog entries prior to publishing them.

  Cons

  It's a great program and it offers a lot of value for free. It lacks a spell-checker to check the words as you type - that would be a nice feature to have. And it lacks headers and footers support - thse are great to have and would nicely round up the feature list of this program. Hey, I like to have my printed pages page numbered :-)

  Alot like microsoft word. Easy to use. I would recomend this to anyone who only has notepad on their computer.
