This free file encryption programs straightforward user interface and flawless performance make it one of the better programs we've seen.

Androsa FileProtector's simple, but a professional user interface makes this a great encryption program for beginners and no-fuss users. The menu options and toolbar run across the top, along with a technical support and Web site button. The main window displays the encrypted files. It's easy to add a file, especially with the option of dragging and dropping them onto the interface. One click on the protect button, and you simply choose your encryption algorithm and enter a password. We were able to just as quickly and easily decrypt files.

We loved this program for its no-nonsense approach to file encryption and highly recommend it for all users. It didn't leave any traces on our computer when we uninstalled it.

1.4.4 is corrupt, impossible to remove

NONE what a piece of crap.
Cons
even with 3rd party "specialized" uninstallers it will not uninstall, it freezes any uninstaller I've thrown at it Luckily for me, I tested it on a couple non essential files, which I will never see again.... it constantly tries to upgrade, but just locks up

Do not install, you will have a hell of a time trying to remove WHY does CNET keep putting software up that is junk? they must make a ton of money to host this crap.
Install faulty & maker now seems to be defunct

A potentially great, easy to use encryption program.
Cons
With 2 different attempts to install, a message came up saying that the installation path could not be found. When I went to the maker's website for help I found that their domain name was for sale, so they are apparently out of business.
Summary
A potentially great program with installation mugs that is apparently now an abandoned orphan product.
Big kiss to the inventor!

This is one of those ''Oh my God, I can't believe they are actually giving it for free!'' - type of program. After you down-load this program you click on the photo (or file) you want to encrypt, then right-click, go to ''Androsa'', type the password and it locks your photo. I tried other ''hide-encrypt'' programs, not long ago a big one (around $70) was offered on a Giveaway site, I tried it.... and after 20 minutes I uninstalled it. With other similar programs you encrypt your photo and then you have to ''shred'' the original. Ugh? You don't have this type of nonsense with Androsa. Download it quickly before it becomes a paid program!

Pros
I've tried several of these programs, if not all, but this one comes without bugs. So I can safely protect my files without fear of not being able to unprotect them. I use it for about 2 years now and it does the job well.
Cons
A minor con is that you're not able, while unprotecting your files, to choose another destination folder.

I could not get it to work on other Partitions on complete Folders instead Files.

Pros
Self-extracting encrypted archives. I can send any type of sensitive file (e.g. pdf, jpg, doc) through email as an exe file. The receiver doesn't need to have Androsa to open it. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly.
Cons
Nothing I can think of.

Pros
Works as advertised. Really simple, too: Drag-and-drop your file, click "Protect," assign a password, and the file becomes garbage! I tried opening a locked file in Notepad, and -- gibberish! Hackers beware -- you have no chance against Androsa!
Cons
The only bad thing I could find about this product is the fact that software like this doesn't come as part of Microsoft Windows... Microsoft is big on security, but they really dropped the ball, not including file encryption software with Windows.
Summary
Pretty much all I need to say about this program has been said in the first three boxes. If you have Windows, you GOTTA get Androsa FileProtector!

I never got a chance to use it. That's good.
Cons
I have Zone Alarm Extreme Security suite. It gave me an all-red warning panel saying that this product looks safe but is not, it may have malware that could be remotely activated. My other encryption apps did not get any warnings from Zone Alarm.
