Can't they Leave the visuals alone?

They changed all my visual settings and removed some apps.
Summary
I just got the update and it SUCKS. I am sure there's great things done for the software itself, but what pissed me off is that these arrogant designers feel they should be able to change how it LOOKS for the users. Design and application should be separate. Now I've spent about 3 hours of my remaining life trying to get it back to the way I had it. Icons, colors, wall papers, apps and functions I had installed and set up. JERK!!! I design too, and I know enough to leave some things alone. I HATE apple products but it seems only Apple knows how not to dick with settings and visuals. Of course that's because Android and Microsoft are STILL playing catch-up. I'd like to tell the developers of lollipop who felt they could change ALL my settings and graphics and NOT back it up where to stick that lollipop

Who would have ever thought that Goggle would deliver an update that would make Microsoft look good. I have no confidence in my Nexus 7 when it used to be my go to travel device, especially for short trips. The N7 isn't unusable; it;s just unreliable. Shame on you Google. The most egregious fact is that they've taken so long to issue a patch. Has Google risen to it's level of incompetence? Are they trying to get us to buy newer Google products? (not likely.)

Pros
My tablet does appear to run faster and is certainly more stable. There were several apps in the past which would crash, refuse to work or simply stall (lock up). I have had the upgrade now for at least a couple weeks and can see no downside to performance.
Cons
With the notification bar at the top, I was able to clear all notifications with a single button - this no longer seems to be available and all notifications will remain until you either click on each individual one or reboot. Not a serious issue, but an annoyance.
Summary
All-in-all I am pleased with the performance and functionality.

Haven't quite found one just yet after one week.
Cons
My Nexus 7 takes forever to start up and, when it does finally wake up, if I don't do something immediately the screen goes black and I need to start all over. A reboot takes almost 10 minutes. I never had that problem before even after previous updates. I have all the same apps on my Droid Mini and have actually opened the same app on both devices using the same internet connection. My phone wins every time. My Nexus is not used to store photos, music, etc. It's only used for reading e-mail from the comfort of my favorite chair so it's not a memory issue.

Tough to judge if the system doesn't work.
Cons
Google this OS. There are 100's if not 1000's of unsatisfied customers. I am at the point of getting an iphone. Besides slowing down our phone, after attempting a charge over nite, we got 34%? Phone calls cannot be received. ...the situation is bizarre beyond belief.

Wait until they put out a fix for this OS.

Horrible upgrade. It ruined my Nexus 7. Apps crash, 2-3 minutes for web pages to load, Facebook closes after a few minutes, most apps won't open for several minutes.

DO NOT UPGRADE TO LOLLIPOP if you have a Nexus 7!!! Google is ignoring the problem. Do your research. There are thousands of Nexus 7 users that not have a useless tablet.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Dec 8, 2014<p/>I have the same problems. Lollipop has made my Nexus 7 un-usable. No response from Google!! Maybe we should start a class action suit to get their attention. Freezes phone applications (I use a Nexus 4). Makes touchscreen unresponsive. Takes a long, long time to detect wifi networks. Very slow surfing speeds. Slow downloads. Difficult to take phone calls due to unresponsive touchscreen. Turns on applications by itself.

DO NOT DOWNGRADE to Lollipop! Stick to KitKat or whatever!

Android 5 made the phone appear to run faster. smoother. I'll admit that some apps broke. However, from what I've seen (and experienced) all that is needed is a patch from the developers. I reached out to all the developers of the games on my phone and all of them (except EA) has provided a patch within a reasonable time frame. Some other apps required no patch whatsoever. Must be that those apps don't make any particular calls that don't exist or are not supported in the new OS. I'm not a coder so I don't know for sure. All I can say is I like the new Android and I'm happy to stick with it.

Very nice update to what I thought was a good OS to start with. Further rollout is going to be in the hands of the carriers which are notorious for delaying and withholding OS updates (boo carriers, Google play editions best way to go)
