Forget Deep Blue. The real fun in chess has always been in playing a true human opponent, who wavers and makes mistakes like you do. AlphaChess allows you to do just that, playing another live person over the Internet or over a local network. The interface is very simple, without flashy graphics, but you can select different colors for the board and choose from 20 different chess sets with different pictures for pieces. While playing, you can text chat with your opponent. There is no single-player version in this game--just like real chess, you have to find a real opponent and play online. But that's a whole lot easier than hanging out in your local coffee shop waiting for another chess lover to sit down for a match.

Wow!!! all the publisher's description is in the program. This is the one I've been looking for. Recommended for all chess addict, and chess fanatic. Small but terrible. And customized your board, pieces and others, on want you really want. And it's FREE, and has UPDATE. What can you and I ask for more...<p>Good Luck, More Power and God Bless

My only suggestion or additional for this program is to have or capable to play or adopt other engines available in the internet, or provide strong engines. Pros
Lets me have a commonplace network game of chess. Not something new or different. There are lots of ways of gettin to play with ur online buddies, one of which is through Yahoo! , much better display than this, plus u dont require to know the IPs all the time. Good if playin on a Lan or similar settings
