WinUtilities File Splitter

Editors' Review

Download.com Staff Feb 27, 2009

This file-splitting utility breaks up oversized files with ease, but there are some freeware programs that match it in features and functionality. WinUtilities File Splitter's interface is clean and straightforward, with wizard-like functionality making the process easy to follow.

You can split files by size, segments, or number of pieces. WinUtilities File Splitter also creates batch files, so you can share your split files with anyone and they're easily merged with a single click. The program accurately split all the files we threw its way, and the split files were restored without any glitches.

The problem with WinUtilities File Splitter isn't in its functionality; it's just that it doesn't offer anything that makes it stand out in a category rich with options, some of them offered at no charge. You can try it for free, but you might want to check out other file splitters before anteing up for WinUtilities File Splitter.

Developer's Description

WinUtilities File Splitter can easily break up large files (no limits, splits any sized file) for copying to floppy or sending via email, as anyone can recreate the original file without having this software. When you split your files, a BAT file is created in the same folder and can be distributed with your split files, which will allow anyone to recreate the original file, with the original name.
