  Pros

  I searched for a free/cheap program to identify the many "orphan" (obsolete) files on our company web server. Other programs I tried were unable to recognize file callouts embedded in javascript code, and would bogusly report valid files as orphans. Web Link Validator screamed through hundreds of files and correctly identified the orphan files. Also of unexpected value was the spell checker that found misspellings on pages that I'd looked at many times. It also does well at validating web links, as the name implies. So far, the program has been fast and stable.

  Cons

  The program is expensive, but was the only one able to do what I needed. Also, I had to struggle a little to get the server settings right in order to do the orphan analysis.

  Cons

  They don't tell you up front the trials limitations. Chalk this up as another company not being up front and hoping they hook you after you install it on your computer and use it. The trial isn't worth downloading because of the limitations and the price is too high
