Play Wall Street stock market/corporate financial simulation for learning experience.
Wall Street Raider is a highly sophisticated and realistic financial simulation, a corporate takeover and stock market game in which you strive to build your corporate empire by fair means, or otherwise, all the while trying to stay one step ahead of the SEC, IRS, Justice Department, EPA, Congress, powerful unions and no end of ruthless competitors--not to mention manmade and natural economic and other disasters, and tough ethical choices.
The game is the gold standard for investing or trading and as an equity analyst in real life, I find the game to be a very addictive and accurate depiction of finance.
Cons
Game still ends up as too short. Please add a version where we can play indefinitely. Just like Warren Buffet's holding period, which is forever.
Summary
New version 5.30 has all the "missing" features
Pros
The reviews all refer to needed features that were not present in older versions a few years ago, but allof of which are in recent versions (in the registered versions, at least, if not enabled in the shareware version).
Cons
What's not to like? Only thing missing is commodity futures trading, and that is under development.
Summary
The new (registered) versions now have all the missing features noted in these reviews -- stock charts, short selling, options trading, and streaming stock quotes for up to 15 stocks. Also, the simulation no longer allows an insider to short the stock of a company he/she controls, or even to sell calls or buy puts on his/her companies, except to the extent of hedging stock he/she holds directly.

Updated on Oct 11, 2013
See my reply to my own review (sorry about that), with regard to recently added commodity and futures trading.
Fun and addictive

Pros
software is very comprehensive and if you register all new versions are cheaper. I've been playing this game for at least 5 months now and I'm not bored with it yet. There are so many challenges to this game.
Cons
The interface could be prettier. Brighter colors or something. But thats about it.

Pros
great interface, Good game to learn about how the stock market works. Very much addictive game.
Cons
One can easily take decision for a company, if he holds 20% shares of that company. This feature tends to have given player a power to earn as much as he wants. The simple Cheat is to control a smaller company's 20%, this company can then control 20% of another bigger company and so on. Short every company in the chain except the company which you hold. Then sell all the business of the last company and give all the money it has as dividend. THat company will go bankrupt and also whole chain will go bankrupt. Since user has only 20% holding in the top of the chain, the loss might be around 200-500Mn, but the profit one can take due to this is very high. I managed to earn 1200Billion$ in just 2 year demo.

Another technic is to bankrupt or downsize a BIG name company like MSHT. after that you can purchase all shares of this company at around 300-500mn, and then contribute around 20Billion to this company. See the Share value to skyrocket to around 100Billion. Then sell the shares to some company, whose 20% shares you own. And again force MSHT to give away all 20Bn in dividend, the market cap will again drop to belo 1Bn.. again buy it... Follow this loop to earn 100Bn everytime...

In reality, you can not short your parent company by Federal LAW. It would be like insider information... :)
Summary
Great and realistic simulation
nanakia
Pros
Almost everything abt techincal trading is found in this game. Highly realistic.
Cons
However, the lack of options as a trading tool is disappointing.

Game play without basics, although in a bid to be random, is it possible to add in elements of fundemantal investing? this would educate players how to read finanical statements and make the game even more realistic, as price changes wif a reason.

Pros
I love the entire concept, it is highly addictive to carry on playing. I have learned alot about business and the stock markets by encouraging myslef to read books about the stock market for better understanding.

One note to the author I recommend that the use of graphs and Cadle-stick models and return on each individual assest investment, so you can decide to keep or sell off. Then it may even become recommended to lecturers for their business students. - Extremely FUN Learning.
Cons
I lost an entire 'night' playing on my laptop, all the way until 4.30am, whilst making $83 Billion in money!
