Some Text to PDF Converter

Editors' Review

by   / November 02, 2009

Software maker Some PDF specializes in utilities for converting and extracting data to and from Portable Document Format files, generally known as PDFs. There's a growing need for such utilities as PDFs become increasingly the document format of choice for posting information like warranties, instruction manuals, and data sheets online or in corporate networks and other environments. PDFs are easy to use, but creating and managing them usually means forking over big bucks for a honking huge software package from Adobe Systems, inventor of the PDF, or similarly pricey third-party software that is also aimed at the enterprise-level user. That's where Some PDF's freeware utilities come in. They're simple but effective tools for quickly and easily performing tasks involving PDFs that could take much longer with the larger, more powerful but far more complex and expensive packages.

Some Text to PDF Converter does just what its name indicates: It converts files in the TXT format into files in the PDF format. It will preserve the layout of your original text files. You can choose the font, font color, and other parameters for the PDF. It supports a wide range of fonts, including Base14, Type 1, True Type, and CID.

Some Text to PDF Converter is easy to use and fairly intuitive, which is good because the help and documentation available, including online support, has the occasionally awkward translated English that can be confusing at times. Still, the program is easy enough to use without too much help that it typically won't be an issue.
