This application competently blocks specified Web sites from loading, although it lacks the expertise of competitive programs. SchoolMarm has an ultrasimple, yet leaden interface to create a list of Web sites to either block or allow. It logs attempts made to access restricted sites along with the site name, date, and time. You'll also be able to control your child's computer time by assigning a specific amount of time for usage. SchoolMarm includes password-protection to access it, although we uninstalled the program from the Control Panel without the password. This simple utility successfully restricted access to the sites we listed during tests, but more robust utilities offer content and keyword filters for added safety. We also didn't like that we aren't able to specify usage times and days, only an overall amount of time in minutes. Though it isn't the best solution for monitoring your older kids' online activity, SchoolMarm could work for younger tots.
