Robin - the Siri Challenger is Android's answer to Apple's Siri app. Like Siri, Robin is an intelligent personal assistant that responds to spoken queries with natural language. And, like Siri, Robin is best on the go: giving directions, finding restaurants and movie showings, and opening and closing apps. Robin by Robin Labs is free for Android 2.1 and up.
Wave hello: Waving "hello" twice or brushing the top of your device activates Robin. There's also a Floating button widget for quick access.
Quick response: Robin searched and responded quickly. Robin launched apps smoothly, too. The app's female voice simulation is pleasant.
Travel: Excellent 3D navigation, map views, and quick access menus for Traffic, Weather, Parking and Gas, and other common objectives (including Fun) make Robin a boon traveling companion.
Google it: For Web searches, it's sometimes faster to speak directly into Google than have Robin open your browser. If Robin's already open, it's about as quick either way.
Smart, but: Robin is a better navigator than research librarian. The app didn't always grasp requests accurately, such as when we asked for a website of Winston Churchill quotations, and we got a single quote instead.
Robin -- The Siri Challenger responded quickly, calmly, and accurately to most of our requests, especially those related to travel or navigation. That's when you need an intelligent assistant the most. Use Google for nerdier knowledge (like famous quotes). But ask Robin for directions.
