This program continuously crashes. Attempting to do any type of project and it shuts down over and over. Click inside a text box or on a pic and it shuts down again. waste of money absolutely ridiculous. no customer support just by e-mail, and you're lucky if they respond with a week, and then the responses are short and just make you need to ask another question. Wast of money and time.

You'd think, in this day and age, that a company would be wise and make sure that their stuff worked out of box. Not so with PrintArtist. Didn't see all the bad reviews on Amazon, Download.com, and elsewhere and bought at Best Buy. Best Buy can claim they don't take back software, but they're going to take this one back- doesn't even remotely meet warranty of merchantability which means they HAVE to take it back. In our case, it did the first page of the newsletter decently- but as soon as you added the second page, it wanted to crash and the saved file would crash it as well. Not only that, it had odd notions of a lot of things. When Sierra had this, it was serviceable and for the price it was an option/choice for many. Now that Nova Developement has it, I guess it's went to hell in a handbasket- if this is the quality of product and customer service that Nova Development has...I won't touch ANYTHING with their logo on the box. Avoid like it'll give you the black plague.

Pros
Has a fair inventory of graphics and projects and if you are prepared to tediously search to find what you are looking for, can make a nice product (I mainly do greeting cards). Excellent for importing outside graphics and pictures.
Cons
Very poor search index. Has general searches such as for birthday, etc. and further broken down such as for wife, for daughter, son, special friend etc. But no search capability for simple things such as "old man", "women", "dinosaur", etc. which is really helpful when you have a card design in mind. The special effects tools for editing pictures and text are quite cumbersome. Not capable of producing vertical text without the text orientation changing as well which I would have thought would be pretty basic for this type of software.
Summary
This software falls far short of an old version of PrintMaster that I used before, but I believe they have gone backwards as well. This supposedly was rated the best, so that speaks poorly of graphics software available to casual users. All in all quite disappointing but with considerable effort can make it work.
Bought this on Jan 15, 2012, only to find it useless.

Everything. Tried for several hours to get it to work with no luck. I've been using publishing programs for 27 years so I think the problem is the program, not me.

Unstable, constantly crashes if making anything more than a page long. Poor graphics from the early 90's. Features that do not work and has broken links throughout the dropdown menus...the list goes on and on!
Summary
Do not waste your money! Not worth the box I bought it in at Office Depot. I want my $50 back!

Crashes constantly. Very unstable. Almost always crashes when I try to save and then all saved files are corrupt. I also was dissapointed with the cheesy clipart, very 1990's. While looking for a patch I found many posts with the same problems.
Summary
Don't waste your money. When trying to get help from support there were lots of people posting the same problems and they were all answered with the same script. Basically saying that they were unaware of any problems with the program and it must be the users opperating system.I tried running it on another system with the same unstable results. Just garbage.

Disappointing graphic loader in the Gold 24 version

This has many nice templates and program features for you to select from.

Had hoped the version Print Artist Gold 24 would have corrected this. I really had not seen the problem before I bought this, for my new Win 7 machine. I was always satisfied with my old version 12.
Summary
The bonus graphics are almost unusable...unless you want to spend your time individually looking through thousands of graphics to select individually from the bonus cd. Old Sierra program had a graphics grabber that was easy to sort and select the graphics you wanted to use to design your cards your way. You could even import from other sources like Art Explosion. The program as offered now is ok if you are not wanting to create your own cards, or really change the items with your own choice of graphics outside of what is automatically installed with the program. The advertised quantity of graphics are misrepresented, unless the downloaded version offers the bonus CD as an integraded part of the package.
Really bad, old sierra Print Artist was FAR superior

good for a kid ,the computer shy elderly or someone whose never used this type of program before. They won't realize how poor and limited it is.

The last version I had was 8. Why does a new version have so much less to offer than the old when computers and computer memory have improved so much since then? Its slow,has much fewer graphics and package componants are NOT integrated
Summary
Big waste of money. I downloaded it without reading reviews because I was happy with my very old version of Print Artist.( I would still be using it but its not compatible with my version of windows) I felt that even if the program had no improvements over version 8 I'd be happy if it would run on my computer! I never imagined that a new owner would by a product and resell a gutted version thereby cashing in on the old product's name ,reputation.and built up customer good will!
