Decompress PAX, GNUTAR, and ZIP archives without using the terminal.
OpenUp allows you to easily decompress PAX, GNUTAR, and ZIP archives without using the terminal. It also can decompress ARC, ARJ, ATOB, UUencode, BZIP, toast, GZIP, compress, LHA, and ZOO files.
This version fixes a long standing bug when you try to shut down.
iv been looking for a mac prog that will open zips that iv only been able to open on a pc, this app does it! it places it in a new folder, but in my opinion its helpful in keep ur unzipped folders organised and its very easy to drag where you want!
Cons
the logo! thats the only let down!
Summary
puts decompressed archive in awkward location
mark.ruse
Pros
nothing
Cons
it does even less than StuffIt Expander. The archive ended up in ~/Library/OpenUp and is deleted when Open Up quits. Help / Supported Decompression Formats ... is disabled in version 3.2... try Zipeg instead...

Great Job
Igor
Pros
Did what I need. Opens .gz files that are larger than 2 gig (Stuffit won't). Works great.
Cons
Minor complaint (very minor). Didn't provide any indication that it was doing anything. The first time I tried it I didn't think it was working so I force quit it. I tried again and just decided to leave it and see what happens. After a while i saw "Successful". An indication that it is working would be nice, but it is still a GREAT JOB.

Summary
When unzipping, unfortunately the UnStuffit utility which comes with Mac OS X truncates files names longer than 31 characters. OpenUp doesn't, and unlike most other unzip utilities, it is free and a native OS X app. Nice job, Scott!
