Do NOT install Netgear Genie!

Hardware works fine and does not require the Genie software.
Cons
After installing the Genie, then restarting my PC, lost drivers for my Windows wireless service.
Summary
After initially jacking the wireless service drivers, Windows completely crashed. Had to clean reinstall. Thinking that it was a fluke, I came here to see if any others had the same issue. Lo and behold, spacecadet0166 seemed to have the same issue. Beware!

Netgear support is notoriously bad, but the new netgear genie does not work. Period. The old version was clunky and hard to use, but it did work. Ver 3.1.10 is much prettier, and is completely useless. I suppose that netgear calls that a fair trade, but I don't.
Summary
Garbage. I'll never buy another netgear product.

black in area now computer connect to router but no internet go to netgear genie but still no internet. there is no phone to call so netgear is worth nothing can't even sell it for a dollar. what are the odds they will call me to resolve this? when jesus returns to earth maybe.

Netgear software is good. easy to use and lots of flexibility with the desktop software. I have yet to be able to put the program through the ropes and give a proper review.
Cons
WTF cnet. you add conduit search utility to your downloads. that shiz ain't cool. why don't you just spit in our faces while raming the unknowing up the corn hole.
Summary
though you can find many usefull programs here BEWARE!!!! cnet likes to pigroast its downloaders.

Pros
Notifies me of firmware updates. Monitors my home network 24/7. Reboots modem if needed. Troubleshoots modem and network.
Cons
None at this point.
Summary
Great software. I really like the notifications it gives me as soon as a firmware update is available. Has worked flawlessly since I bought my R6300 router. Maps every device on the network, shows which ones are on, which are off, and any problems. Manages our home NAS, routes print jobs, etc.

It worked great for the first couple weeks.
Cons
Keeps getting Visual+ runtime errors. Netgear said they could not test without another computer so could not help me and suggested I contact Microsoft...even though the error message said to contact Netgear. I did check for an update and there was one, however it would not fully load so can't update.
Summary
My cable provider offers a modem with wi-fi built in and free support. I am going for it.

It's nice to be able to monitor the network.

It keeps disconnecting me from the internet. I am uninstalling it from all my computers and devices. It does not work properly on my Windows 7 AND 8 computers.
