The Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile provides a subset of features from the .NET Framework 4. The Client Profile is designed to run client applications and to enable the fastest possible deployment for Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Windows Forms technology. It provides improvements in Common Language Runtime (CLR) and Base Class Library (BCL), new memory mapped file and numeric types, innovations in the Visual Basic and C# languages, and support for Windows 7 multi-touch, ribbon controls, taskbar extensibility features, and Surface 2.0 SDK. WCF Data Services is a component of the .NET Framework that enables to create REST-based services and applications that use the Open Data Protocol (OData) to expose and consume data over the Web. The Entity Framework enables developers to program against relational databases using .NET objects and Language Integrated Query (LINQ).
