collect payment for use of your AirPort network/HotSpot
If you install LinSpot on your AirPort equipped network, it will turn that into a hotspot. Customers who drive by or your neighbors can connect to the Internet for a low fee. And that fee goes to you! You can still give unlimited free access to your friends. All online payments are handled through PayPal and processed through secure end-to-end encryption. In fact, it works with any WiFi router and even behind a Firewall doing Network Address Translation (NAT) and it auto-configures itself.

This is a complete ripoff
It is also impossible to remove the software from your system without a re-install and NO INSTRUCTIONS on the linspot website how to...
Avoid.
It's great!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I installed LinSpot at first about 10 months ago. I carefully followed the online instructions and managed to set it up within less than an hour.
After that I didn't looked at it at all.
Actually, I just put up some signs to tell people that wifi access was available.
It just runs in the background as UNIX processes, sweet!
Every month I receive a detailed overview statement about who accessed the network and when. They do take a 15% fee but that's a good enough deal to me!
DO NOT USE!

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Around September of 2005 I tried to download and set up the product. I was sucessful and everything appeared to be functioning as normal. Just to test the software I used my other laptop to purchase the cheapest time interval ($2.50). It let me on after about 10 minutes, but it continued to let me on for over 2 days (which is a problem but not nearly the worst problem). The two reasons you should not use this software is:
1. It's now over 2 months later and I have not received my 85% of the $2.50 I paid.
2. Every email on the website bounces back.
It is my conclusion they are no longer a company. If that was posted somewhere I didn't see it, but the website is still functioning and you can do anything you want except get paid or get in contact with the software distributors.
DO NOT USE!!!
Get rid of it!!!

It goes through phases of showing LinSpot ads for EVERY SINGLE URL I TYPE!!!
apple.com = buy Sony dog.
versiontracker.com = buy Sony dog.
microsoft.com = buy Sony dog.
The URL displays linspot. Even my WAN address displays proxy.linspot.com.
I don't want this anymore! I don't want it ever again! How do I REMOVE it???
