This application maps your standard 102 keyboard according to your needs, but some of the hot key features didn't work in our tests. KeyExtender has a plain, small, nonresizable interface that is relatively easy to understand and use. The program lets you easily change a key's output through pull-down menus. You also can set a key to perform predefined functions, such as type text, run a key combination, or adjust your volume control.
In our tests, the program proved its efficiency in inserting frequently used text with a single key press as well as in performing shutdown functions and other predefined options. To activate and deactivate the program's effect on your keyboard, you can conveniently define hot keys with the program's Settings option.
However, some of these latter functions didn't perform during our tests; further, without a help guide, the registry map option won't be of much use to novices. Nonetheless, KeyExtender can be very useful to those looking for an efficient key remapping utility, but be aware of possible glitches.
