Hyperic network management software lets you monitor and manage every layer of your infrastructure with Hyperic HQ, from the OS up to your app servers. You can track configuration, log, and security events. Hyperic autodiscovers hardware and software inventory, and can be run remotely. This package is the free, open source version of the product. There is a trial (limited to 3 managed resources) of the enterprise product that you can find at the publisher site. Version 3.2 brings about some major performance enhancements, as well as new features, including host diagnostic data, currently down resources, a Nagios import utility, scalability improvements, MySQL database support, HQ health check, the ability to disable global alert.

Pros
I downloaded HQ months ago and it instantly auto-discovered all my hardware, software and services - and kept doing that every minute of every day. Also, by plugging in log files and tracking configuration changes - it really helped to answer that terrifying question "what changed?" every time something went wrong. Now I can just point dev to the UI and say - "see?!? this changed, and this caused problems". It completely removed the whole dev-ops fingerpointing fiasco every time there was an issue. I definitely recommend!
