Editors' Review

Horizon uses your device's accelerometer or gyroscope to auto-level your videos while you're recording them, so that whether you hold your device upright or sideways, your video will stay horizontal.

Pros

Makes video recording a breeze: Thanks to its clever auto-leveling, Horizon enables you to record video more easily, especially when you're out and about. Whether you move or rotate your phone, the app instantly adjusts the orientation, so that the result is always a perfectly horizontal video.

Adaptable to most devices: Horizon automatically chooses between a VGA, HD, and Full HD resolution and enables you to manage memory size with the Low, Medium, and High quality settings.

Straightforward and easy to use: The clean interface with the auto-leveling video window in the middle of the screen and quick buttons for switching between the front and back cameras, or changing the leveling mode to get the maximum viewpoint, makes it an accessible app that you can use with minimal taps and no hassle, whatsoever.

Cons

Free version limitations: Although ad-free, the app comes with a 15-second recording cap as well as a Horizon watermark embedded in your video. To remove these, as well as to get priority customer support, you have to make a small in-app purchase.

Won't work on all devices: Even if your device has an accelerometer or gyroscope and good hardware, there's a small chance this app won't work on it; Horizon is rather picky when it comes to the devices on which it runs.

Bottom Line

If you record videos with your smartphone camera, Horizon can make your life easier. Let's face it: the risk of ruining a great video by inadvertently rotating your camera is always there. This app puts an end to that, offering the kind of functionality that should be integrated into Android.
