Editors’ Review
Gihosoft Free Video Joiner combines multiple video or audio files into one output file through a file-based merge workflow. The software loads clips into a Clip Queue, where each imported item appears as an editable sequence entry before export begins. A built-in Trim Panel marks start and end positions for partial clip selection, storing those cut points within the project list.
Gihosoft Free Video Joiner’s supported media formats include MP4, AVI, MKV, MOV, WMV, FLV, and other standard containers. When source files share identical codecs and containers, the export process can pass streams directly without re-encoding, preserving original encoding structures.
Analyze, trim, merge
Gihosoft Free Video Joiner’s imported clips pass through a Source Analyzer that reads duration, container type, and audio stream information before they appear in the merge list. Entries can move upward or downward inside the sequence panel, changing playback order before export starts. Subtitle tracks, chapter markers, and embedded captions are not exposed through the editing interface, leaving the merge process focused on source arrangement and clip continuity only.
A Range Selector applies trimming points with numeric controls and in or out markers instead of a timeline-based editor. Selected segments stay linked to the original source rather than generating separate temporary files during project preparation. Video and audio remain synchronized through segment placement until the export stage begins. However, it lacks frame-by-frame cutting, layered compositing, motion graphics, and transition effects.
Output Selector assigns the final container format for the merged project. Files sharing the same codec structure can pass through without conversion, while mixed codec sources trigger a re-encoding process before the output file is written. The software accepts long clip lists without publishing a fixed import cap. Metadata editing, scene indexing, waveform displays, and media library tagging are not included within the export workflow or project management structure.
Pros
- Multi-format media importing
- Built-in trim controls
- Stream-copy merging support
- Manual sequence ordering
Cons
- No subtitle controls
- No transition effects
- No frame-level editing
- No metadata tools
Bottom Line
Clean cuts, direct streams
Gihosoft Free Video Joiner centers on clip ordering, segment trimming, format detection, and container-based export across video and audio sources. It supports direct stream-copy merging when source codecs match and includes sequence controls before rendering begins. The software does not include subtitle handling, transition effects, frame-level editing, metadata tools, or waveform-based navigation. Those limitations keep its feature set focused on linear joining rather than extended post-production editing across larger media projects.
What’s new in version 2.0.48.0
- Clip trimming remains available through mark in/out controls
- Stream-copy merging remains available for matching codec sources
- Multi-format import and manual clip ordering continue as listed functions
