The graphics are entertaining to younger children
SOMETIMES the program doesn't freeze up and frustrate my child
Cons
NO available U.S.A. based customer support
U.K. hours are not convenient to U.S. customers & Nessy's staff has demonstrated far less than friendly attitude & appeared to be aggravated & inconvenienced by having to help American clients.
The Nessy Dyslexia Quest software is based on U.K. pronunciation which OFTEN times causes incorrect assessments of a U.S. child's answers & overall testing results.
As mentioned above - this software is VERY prone to jamming or freezing up while in use. Very frustrating - Nessy claims to be aware of the "bugs" but the problem still persists and is noted in reviews across the internet.
Summary
The "bugs" in the software not being addressed are the tip of the iceberg for the American parent or teacher trying to assist children with dyslexia. The U.K. software with U.K. pronunciation guidelines are a poor fit for American's addressing dyslexia & the notion that this App could even be considered a complete assessment tool is quite a far leap from reality.
What good are engaging cartoon graphics IF the App doesn't preform as advertised? I am not bashing Nessy but after initially being drawn to the app based on its graphics only to be very disappointed in what it actually delivers to the American customer along with the rude & uncaring nature of the U.K. Nessy staff I dealt with, I just want to save others and their children from the frustration Nessy's Dyslexia Quest has been for my family.
