Replace the Finder with Total commander equivalent.
Disk Order is an advanced double-panel file manager with built-in FTP client. It is good for everyone who need to perform a lot of file-work. Ideal for mac switchers who switched to Mac from PC. It was designed to an equivalent of famous Total Commander and Directory Opus in Mac OS X environment. It is useful not only for switchers but for notebooks owners too as it allows to perform most file operations with just keyboard. The key feature of the application is that it allows you to do FTP upload/download, browse and extract files from archives, preview and edit files. All usual file operations are, of course, supported too
The process to obtain the serial number is not automatically. You may lose your money.

Now, let's hope for more frequent updates and better customer support...
... and btw, the new app icon looks cool!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Well, I just purchased a license less than an hour ago and had no problems. Prior to doing so, I contacted eSellerate to find out who provides the serial number. They said that they do, and that was the case. I received my serial number immediately, and everything works.
As for customer service, that does, indeed, appear to be dead. I went into this purchase knowing full well that this product might never again be updated and that I will never receive help. But I liked the program, and it's at least been stable on my system. (PB G4, 10.4.8) I tried muCommander and XFolders, and while both are fine, free alternatives, DiskOrder provided me with some customization options that I preferred.
I realize that the Finder is fine; and in fact, there are things that I cannot do with DiskOrder that I must do with the Finder. But for my overall way of working with my Mac, DiskOrder did the job. It would be nice if they would keep working on this program and provide feedback to e-mail inquiries, but I'm not holding my breath. (I tried e-mailing them and received what now appears to be the standard "Mail box full" message.)
Anyway, in my experience, if you want a license for this, it did not appear to be a problem.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
-The Norton Commander-selection with space-bar does not work at all.
-The mouse-selection seem to work at first but then all files in the directory got deleted instead of only the two selected.
This makes Disc Order useless, or at least the intel-version.
No reply at all from support. Cannot recommend paying for this at this point.
Pretty well fleshed out..

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
... but how do I select multiple specific files?
Spacebar should do this (in addition to calculating space)... I don't want to select with the mouse (and wildcards).
Otherwise good, if a bit expensive...
Really good tool for every switcher

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The program is very similar to Total Commander, so it's easy to use for those who worked with file managers on PC. In the latest version there are only main functions, but I hope some day it will be almost no difference between it and similar tools under Windows.

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I dislike the finder and have been looking for a cocoa replacement.
I was disappointed with PathFinder.
I am almost completely happy with this. I have two gripes, both of which are things that drove me away from PathFinder:
1. I'd like to edit files with my chosen editor (eg SubEthaEdit) rather than the one that comes with it. Is there a place to set this as a preference? I couldn't find it.
2. I noticed your command-line plug-in is based on iTerm. However, I would rather use iTerm. Also, my default shell in the Netinfo Database is zsh, so why does this open with bash? In the case of Finder, I wrote my own AppleScript applet that I place in the toolbar. Clicking on it opens a new tab of iTerm in my current iTerm window in the directory corresponding to the frontmost finder window. If Disk Order Commander was similarly apple-scriptable, I could do this (and would happily submit back this applet for inclusion in subsequent versions. If OTOH there is an easy way for me to put this in as a plug-in, I would happily do that as well.
Lest this sound critical, I think it is already better than the alternatives, and I never use windows, so I am not basing it on that.
