• Outstandingly Effective Data Recovery Software

  After accidentally formatting a 2TB HDD containing the backup of a similar drive that had just been knocked out by a power surge, it was critical that the data could be recovered. A list of 97 current Data Recovery Apps was shortlisted 37 based on claimed performance, not price. In the $40 and under class, DMD was one of two standouts. After testing various candidates, DMDE was the only App that met & delivered all my requirements which included the following: 1. the ability to clone/image the inaccessible drive and then work on the copy to avoid further damaging the original. 2. the ability to clone independent of the OS to avoid Windows writing to the drive and thus further damaging the data, 2. recovery of the directory structure with the file names and time stamps. (1.2M files identifiable only by their contents would not be that helpful) DMDE recovered all the lost files and proved the author's claims to be conservative. His support for the App is outstanding.

  Cons

  The average computer user may need a little time to come to terms with the product. The process is not entirely instinctive and a doubling of the available tool tips would be helpful. When all else fails, one can of course resort to reading the instruction manual.....

  Summary

  DMDE is a mature App that remains under active development. While it is aimed at Data Recovery specialists, if a lay user is prepared to get their hands dirty, the effort will be totally worthwhile. It offers a slew of helpful drive examination and editing tools but data recovery success is not directly dependent on learning how to use them. DMDE represents outstanding value and performance. If you are serious about getting your data back, you will be hard pressed to find a better product irrespective of price. As I mentioned, the support is timely and will exceed your expectations. PS.   Dear Friends I would like to present my review on various aspects of DMDE professional commercial version. In My 13 years of DR business , I have tested all major commercial DR softwares ,but one software has outperformed all of them ,DMDE. Since I started using DMDE , my work efficieney & recovery time has greatly improved ,thanks to DMDE's rich features. It has become my right hand for my day to day work. Some of the features which are unique to DMDE are as following - 1) Both DOS & WINDOWS versions make easy initial diagnostics.( can be run from a usb pen drive) 2) Instantly identify Boot Sectors partitions /file system , no need to perform entire scan.( FAT /NTFS /EXT3/EXT4) (very much useful when disk has bad sectors and windows is taking too much time to mount volume) 3) Check size of Data , create Data list of selected files /folders. 4) Create Image of physical media / Selected Partitions with host of I/O error options .( in both forward / reverse order) 5) Low level Disk access -- DMDE has excellent disk editor in built to perfrom various manual operations on logical disk structure. 6) Professional version can be run on a client machine ( by assigning usb activation) 7) A powerful Raid Recovery algorithm in reconstruting lost raid. 8) I found success ratio of DMDE is far better in severe file system damage cases. 9) In built disk wiping function. 10) Most importantly excellent post sale technical support provided by Dmitry. I highly recommend to purchase DMDE to every Data Recovery technician

  Pros

  Not so difficult to use (even for free version) Gets the job done (Saves your life)

  Cons

  Took me 5 minutes to figure out how to use it since I am using the free version. But after that, everything is breeze. If the error messages are more clear, then I have nothing to complain.

  Summary

  Once you figure out how to use it, it found and recovered all the files from a folder which I can not open any where. Will not use anything else.

  I'm very happy that it recovered my files from a damaged folder, so I have no complaints at all.

  Summary

  I had a folder corruption issue that caused me to lose access to some very important financial files. I tried several different pieces of recovery software to get my data back, but none were working. I stumbled upon this piece of freeware, and decided to try. I didn't expect any different results than I got from the software that I purchased for this problem. But thankfully, I was wrong! This program brought back data that others did not. I was extremely relieved. Thanks to the developers for a very helpful and easy to use tool!!
