• lack of tech support makes product illegitimate

  Easy to use and reliable once debugged....

  Cons

  Won't convert to WMV format without debugging assistance from tech support. Tech support no longer exists.

  Summary

  I've used avex product for years and would recommend it as long as there was tech support to help debug it. Recent reinstall required debugging again but avex doesn't have tech support anymore. NONE. Zip! I think the company has folded up and a resaler has licensed to sell it without offering tech support. Basically a scam now. Can't find Avex listed anywhere except Thailand. No phone number and no response to email. Knowing this you have to question the veracity of any company knowing selling the product.

• Poor Product - hangs on some DVD

  Simple to use when it works

  The Software works on some DVDs and hangs and random points through others. I've tried selecting different output formats, but it hangs.<p>We have Vista running at home. The software shows up under each user. It only works on the original user Id you entered the serial number under. if you run it under another ID, it asks you to re-register. Remember, this is all on the same PC.<p>It also tried to make two attempts to write (not read) from the registry each time you start the application. I have to give the app permission to write to my registry twice. I can understand reading from the registry, but there is no need to write to it each time you start the application.<p>Take a look at the support section on the website. There isn't any support. They provide you with a link to their user manual and an email address.<p>There isn't any mention of any guarantee on their website for a refund.

  Pros

  Downloaded Avex DVD ripper platinum Trial eddition. it worked just like the website said t would. The trial only allowed a five minute sample. But now were eager to buy the full program next payday

  No problems thus far. only did ONE trial but it worked perfectly for the Ipod Classic

  its simple to use <p>fast converter <p> <p>has good customizeable output settings to what you want just delele the numbers put your own. <p> <p>converts to a few video types easy <p> <p>does the job for me.

  Cons

  limited trial. <p> <p>had it freeze sometimes. <p> <p>lag on output video sometimes.
