• Run on Windows 7 64 for real

  Pros

  The only software I've been able to run on a 64-bit operating system. There other products are misleading, even running Hyperterminal on Windows XP hosted on a Windows 7 64 machine "runs" but it does not really communicates with serial ports.

  None that I'm ware of

  Summary

  Excellent, don't need to have machine with a 32 bit operating system to run other programs that cannot be used in 64-bit OS's

  Pros

  I've used PowerTerm for years, but in terms of bang for the buck, you just can't beat AlphaCom. It's compact, cheap, well done, and painless to install and use. I like the support for serial communications and ssh, as well as telnet.

  Cons

  My only gripe (and it's a tiny one) is I wish it had support for more terminal types (HP, ADDS, etc.). The most common ones are already there, though (Wyse, Linux, VT, ANSI, SCO, and IBM 3151).
